Sport offers in and around Siegen
Siegen has several sports facilities and fields that are open to the public.
Sports fields
There are a total of 19
sports fields in the city of Siegen, 12 of which have
artificial turf, making them particularly suitable for
games such as soccer or rugby. Four of the facilities also
have athletics facilities, so that sprinters also get their
money's worth here. Probably the best-known sports facility
is the Leimbach Stadium, which is considered a national
sports facility. National and international events often
take place here and in the Giersberg sports hall.
In addition to the sports field, there are also over 30
sports halls, including gymnasiums.
Pools
For Swimmers, the city of Siegen has seven pools on offer, three of which are indoor pools, including a sauna area, and four outdoor pools. Some of these are even warm-water outdoor pools. Those who prefer nature can enjoy the idyll in the natural outdoor pools, the natural outdoor pool Seelbacher Weiher and the natural outdoor pool Eiserfelder Weiher.
Sports Clubs
If you would like to join a club, you can choose from 162 clubs in the Siegen Sports Association, which have a total of around 34,000 members. The clubs range from gymnastics clubs and soccer clubs to ball game clubs and chess and dart clubs. In addition to public sports facilities, the respective clubs often have other facilities such as tennis courts, shooting ranges or riding arenas. Hiking and Mountainbiking
In addition to the sports fields, the beautiful nature of Siegen invites you to go for a walk, hike, or jog. In the immediate proximity of the city, there are beautiful forests with sometimes more or less firm paths, which reward you with a beautiful view over the city after you have climbed the heights. The city forest of Siegen has even a small sports facility for the very more motivated people, with various equipment for training. There is also a public boules court. Bowling enthusiasts have a wide selection of facilities to choose from, located both centrally and somewhat outside the city center. Those who like it a little more unusual have the opportunity to experience Siegen from above and take advantage of the offers for paragliding or parachute flying, for example, through the Siegerland Air Sports Association.
Museums, Cinema and Theatre
Of course, a trip to one of Siegen's cinemas or museums is
also worthwhile in the classic sense. The former can even
be enjoyed outdoors in late summer in the form of the
open-air cinema at the upper castle. Museum
lovers will also get their money's worth; both the Siegerland
Museum with interesting facts about the region and the
Museum of Contemporary Art are definitely
